Apply to Join The Impact Commons
A simple, transparent process for joining a nonprofit, curated Slack community of founders, investors, and builders creating impact-first organizations.
How It Works
The Impact Commons operates as a curated, Slack-based community. Our process is intentionally lightweight and transparent so members stay aligned with the mission, participate respectfully, and engage meaningfully with peers. There are no hidden requirements, fees, or commercial obligations.
You’ll go through four simple steps:
Apply to Join
Complete a brief application about your role, what you’re building, and why you identify as an Impactist. This helps ensure the community stays useful and aligned for everyone.
Application Review
We review to confirm mission and values alignment, not credentials or status. The goal is to preserve community quality, not create competition.
Get Accepted
If accepted, you’ll receive a Slack invitation via email. If we’re not a fit right now, we’ll let you know respectfully and you’re welcome to reapply as your work evolves.
Join and Engage
Introduce yourself, explore channels, and start connecting with other Impactists. The community is yours to shape.
Questions about the process? You can always reach out or review the Community Guidelines.

Community Standards
To maintain a healthy, productive space, we ask all members to follow a few key principles:
Respect all members; disagreement is welcome, disrespect is not.
Respect confidentiality; what’s shared in the Commons stays in the Commons unless explicitly public.
No self-promotion; this is not a space to pitch, sell, or extract value.
Bring curiosity, not certainty; we value learning and honest dialogue over posturing.
Members who consistently violate these standards may be asked to leave. Our priority is preserving the integrity of the space.
Free, Nonprofit, and Optional Tools
The Commons is and will always be free to join and participate in. We will never upsell, gate features, or require purchases for access. The Impact Commons is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community with no hidden business model.
Resonary (the nonprofit behind the Commons) may develop optional tools such as profile pages, resource libraries, or fundraising support. These tools are built for Impactists, by Impactists, always optional, and developed only in response to community needs. The Commons is a community first; tools come second, when they make sense.
